Sangetsar Lake lies at about 3,700 m on the Tawang–Bum La road, 60 km from Tawang town and minutes off the high pass route — a round, still alpine lake ringed by dwarf rhododendron and evergreen forest, fed by the snows of the surrounding ridgeline.
History & culture
Known officially as Sangetsar, the lake picked up its far more travelled name — Madhuri Lake — from the Bollywood film 'Koyla' shot on its shores; locals and the tourism board tell the twin story: a sacred frontier lake and a movie-famous turquoise backdrop in one.
