History & culture
The fort's story runs with the 16th-century Mughal era — the old fort of the 1533 founding and the Humayun's seat of the Din Panah, with the fort's modern role as the heritage stop of the Delhi circuit and the home of the 1541 Qila-i-Kuhna mosque and the Sher Mandal and the 2010s-era lake; the fort's history of the 1555 Mughal era and the 1947 Partition-era excavations and the daily sound show, gives Purana Qila its Mughal character.
