Geography & terrain

Phawngpui lies in the Lawngtlai district of Mizoram at about 2,157 m, 180 km from Aizawl and 30 km from Lawngtlai — the Blue Mountain of the region, its rhododendron slopes, the views and the trek set on the highest peak of the Mizoram.

History & culture

The peak's story runs with the 1992 national park era — the Blue Mountain of the Mizo legend and the protected forest of the 1992 park, with the peak's modern role as the trek stop of the Mizoram circuit and the home of the rhododendron blooms and the 200 km of the view lines; the peak's history of the Lepcha and the tribal lore and the misty mornings, gives Phawngpui its blue-mountain character.
