Geography & terrain

Pench NP lies in the Seoni district of Maharashtra and the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh, 100 km from Nagpur and 75 km from Seoni — the tiger reserve of the region, its safari zones, the Mowgli story and the Pench river set on the Satpura's forest.

History & culture

The park's story runs with the 1975 tiger reserve era — the forest of the Pench river and the Mowgli home of the Kipling's Jungle Book, with the park's modern role as the safari stop of the central-India circuit and the home of the 4 safari zones and the 2011 tiger count and the 1910s-era forest life; the park's history of the 1992 national park listing and the Pench river's pools, gives Pench its tiger character.
