Geography & terrain

Patnitop lies in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir at about 2,024 m, 110 km from Jammu and 300 km from Srinagar — the meadow town of the region, its pine walks, the viewpoints and the family weekends set on the Pir Panjal's green.

History & culture

The town's story runs with the colonial-era resort life — the summer resort of the Dogra era and the meadows of the British officers, with the town's modern role as the weekend stop of the Jammu circuit and the home of the Naag Temple and the 1997 ski slopes of the Patnitop; the town's history of the 1980s hotel era and the Shankaracharya temple and the pine forests, gives Patnitop its meadow character.
