Geography & terrain

Panamik lies in the Leh district of Ladakh at about 3,200 m, 150 km from Leh and 40 km from the Siachen base — the hot-spring village of the region, its sulphurous springs, the Nubra views and the border life set on the Nubra river's banks.

History & culture

The village's story runs with the trade-route era — the historic way-station of the silk-route caravans and the 1840s old springs of the region, with the village's modern role as the stop of the Nubra circuit and the home of the hot springs and the Yarab Tso lake; the village's history of the Siachen operations and the spring's healing faith and the border village life, gives Panamik its springs character.
