Geography & terrain
Mussoorie stands at ~2,000 m on a ridge between the Tons and Yamuna valleys in Uttarakhand — the 'Queen of Hills'. The Mall runs 3 km along the ridge's spine with the snow peaks of the Garhwal Himalaya in view from Landour's end.
History & culture
A 1823 British garrison retreat that became the summer capital's favourite boarding-school town — and where Ruskin Bond grew up. Its 19th-century hotels, the 1915 book-café scene and Landour's writer colony all survive the tourism boom.

The promenade culture is intact — families on the Mall, the cable car to Gun Hill, fresh kulhad coffee and the smell of momos and pakoras in the evening air. Camel's Back Road is quieter, its bend shaped like a camel's hump, with pine forest on one side and the valley on the other. Landour's bakeries and the church's evening bells carry the town's colonial age into the present. It's a classic, romantic hill station — the kind of weekend that feels like a postcard you already know, because a century of postcards have been sent from here.
