Geography & terrain
Munnar sits at ~1,600 m in Kerala's Western Ghats, where the Kannan Devan hills fold into tea estates, shola forests and grassland plateaus. Three rivers (Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, Kundaly) meet here, and the climb from Kochi crosses the 1,000 m cloud line before the town appears.
History & culture
Munnar's estates were established by Scottish planters in the 1870s, and the town still runs on the Kannan Devan Tea Company's legacy — the Tata-owned plantations, the Lockhart factory museum and the colonial-era hill clubs.
