Moti Daman lies in the Daman district of the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, 190 km from Mumbai and 10 km from Silvassa — the Portuguese town of the region, its fort, the churches and the seafront set on the estuary's banks.

History & culture

The town's story runs with the 1559 Portuguese building — the Moti Daman fort of the Estado da India (the largest of the Daman forts) and the town of the colonial churches, with the town's modern role as the heritage stop of the coastal circuit and the home of the St. Jerome's fort and the Our Lady of the Sea church; the town's history of the Portuguese rule of the 450 years and the 1961 liberation, gives Moti Daman its Portuguese character.
