Moirang lies in the Bishnupur district of Manipur, 45 km from Imphal and 20 km from Loktak lake — the INA heritage town of the region, its Indian National Army museum, the temples and the lake edge set on the valley's green.

History & culture

The town's story runs with the 1944 INA flag raising — the town of the first Indian National Army flag on April 1944 (the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's march), with the town's modern role as the heritage stop of the Imphal circuit and the home of the INA museum and the Khwairakpam Chandrashekhar memorial; the town's history of the Moirang legend of Khamba and Thoibi and the lake's fishing life, gives Moirang its INA-town character.
