Mehrauli Archaeological Park lies in the South Delhi district of Delhi, 3 km from Qutub Minar and 20 km from the city centre — the ruins park of the region, its tombs, the stepwell and the forest set on the city's oldest settlement.
History & culture
The park's story runs with the thousand-year city life — the site of the 11th-century Lal Kot fort and the later tombs and the stepwells of the Delhi sultanate, with the park's modern role as the heritage walk of the south-Delhi circuit and the home of the Adham Khan's tomb and the Balban's tomb; the park's history of the Tughlaq-era building and the forest's ruins, gives the park its archaeological character.
