Kiradu lies in the Barmer district of Rajasthan, 35 km from Barmer and 160 km from Jodhpur — the group of ancient temples of the region, its Solanki-style shrines, the carved pillars and the ruins set on the Thar's southern edge.

History & culture

The temple group's story runs with the 11th–12th century Solanki-era building — the old temple complex of the Parmara period with its Someshvara and the Vishnu shrines of the carved stone; the site's history as the learning and the worship centre of its time, with the site's ruined walls and the carvings that have survived the centuries, gives Kiradu its ancient-temple character.
