Kanipakam is a river-town shrine of Chitoor district, 70 km from Tirupati and 11 km from Chittoor town — the Vinayaka temple standing knee-deep in the Swarnamukhi river, the idol perpetually washed by its flow, with the green delta fields and the hill shoulder closing the horizon.

The temple's origin story tells of a farmer's plough striking a hidden idol in the riverbed, and the swelling river soon enclosing it — the sanctum still sits under water level, drained daily by ritual; centuries of Chola and Vijayanagara patronage enriched the shrine, now famous for its submerged Vinayaka darshan and its marriages-make-all festival.
