Jaldapara NP lies in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal, 45 km from Alipurduar and 300 km from Kolkata — the rhino reserve of the Dooars, its grasslands and the Torsa river set on the Himalayan foothills' edge near the Bhutan border.

History & culture

The park was established in 1941 as the region's game reserve — the forest of the Dooars' tea country, with the park's history of the rhino's protection and the Hollong forest bungalow's story; the park's modern role in the north Bengal's wildlife circuit, with the elephant safari of the evenings and the watch towers, gives Jaldapara NP its grassland-rhino character.
