Geography & terrain
Horsley Hills rise in the Eastern Ghats above the Rayalaseema plains, 35 km from Madanapalle in Chitoor district and about 144 km from Tirupati — a 1,265-m ridge of pine and eucalyptus forest, named after the British district collector W.D. Horsley, with the old bungalows and the valley-look over the Palar country.
History & culture
The British made the ridge their summer retreat in the 19th century — Horsley, the district officer of the age, built his bungalow here and the hill took his name; the forest department's hill village, the cinema-famous 'Dream Land' oak wood and the Chenchu tribal settlements around keep the old hill-station character alive.
