Gangolihat lies in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand at about 1,800 m, 95 km from Almora and 70 km from Pithoragarh — the temple town of the eastern Kumaon, its caves and the Kali shrine set on the ridge above the Ramganga's valley.
