History & culture
Maharaja Surajmal of Bharatpur built the Deeg palace in the 18th century as the Jat court-city — the Keshav Bhavan's pleasure pavilions and the water gardens ringing with the fountains of the palace's hydraulic age; the summer pavilion's marble, the painted walls and the gardens of the Brij kings make Deeg the great water-palace of the north.
