Geography & terrain

Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Canacona range of South Goa, 45 km from Margao and 60 km from Panaji — 105 sq km of the state's densest forest at the Karnataka border, its treetop tower and trails held by the moist deciduous green.

History & culture

Declared in 1969 among Goa's first sanctuaries, the Cotigao forest guards the state's southernmost wild tract — the Malabar fauna country of the border; its treetop watchtower, the nature trails and the Anjunem dam's water have since made the sanctuary the quiet trekking forest of the south districts.
