Chikhaldara sits at 1,100 metres in the Satpura hills of Maharashtra's Melghat district, 75 km from Amravati and 100 km from Akola — the state's only coffee-hill station, its forest and lake views set above the tiger country of the Melghat range.

History & culture

The hill's legends tie its name to the Bhima of the Mahabharata's Hidimba story, and its modern life began with the British era's summer retreats in the Satpura forest; the coffee plantations, the Panchbol point and the deer park have since made Chikhaldara the quiet weekend hill of the Vidarbha region.
