Geography & terrain
Calangute beach runs 2 km along North Goa's central coast, backed by the Baga river estuary and the paddy-green interior. It sits in the state's beach belt — Candolim to the south, Baga to the north, both walkable on sand at low tide.
History & culture
Goa's Portuguese past runs through the parish — St. Alex Church (1597), the weathered St. Anthony's Chapel, and the fishing families who still launch trawlers from the beach today. Calangute's name itself comes from the Konkani 'kalangute' — a small boat.
