History & culture
Legend ties the cape's name to the exile of Rama's story, and its walls hold the fort's later history under the Bahamani, the Bijapur and the Portuguese rulers — the old cannon platforms and the 19th-century church of Saint Antonio within the walls; the fort's ruins and the village beneath have kept the cape's long watch of the sea.
