Geography & terrain
Bhoramdeo lies in the forested Maikal-belt country of Kabirdham (Kawardha) district, Chhattisgarh, about 50 km from the district town — a cluster of sandstone temples in a green valley hollow ringed by ridges, drew on the Nagavanshi kings' hill-temples.
History & culture
The complex grew through the 7th–12th centuries under the Nagavanshi rulers of the region — the main Bhoramdeo Shiva temple is dated by inscriptions to about the 11th century, with later additions; its richly carved walls, elegant shikhara and the celebrated mating and musical panels have earned it the name 'Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh'. The Madwa Mahal (fort-palace) ruins stand across the meadow as the secular counterpoint.
