Astaranga is a sunset beach on the Bay of Bengal coast of Puri district, Odisha, about 62 km from Puri town — a wide, flat strand where the sand turns saffron-gold at dusk, framed by casuarina groves and the quiet fishing hamlets of the shore.
History & culture
The name means 'eight colours' — the legend-mirror of the sunset's shifting palette over the sea. The beach has long been a calm boating-and-fishing shore of the Kakatpur country, less famous than Puri but loved by locals for its red dunes and winter sunrises.
